Water Lily and Mini Bee Garden Mosaic Spheres

Water Lily Mosaic Garden Ball

I made my first garden sphere ever recently and straight away I had the urge to make another one in a different design, then the butterflies are joined by bees, on large and on mini balls too. It's gone sphere mad round here.

The Water Lily Pond Ball has two goldfish, two dragonflies with iridescent wings, and white water lily flowers all on a jade green background. It would look really great next to a pond. Or it would be great if you can't have a pond in your garden as a replacement.

A couple of designs I have made for customers are variations of the original butterfly ball with bees added too.

And these are the mini balls with a single bumblebee on which are very cute, and great as plant markers or to use in a container as decoration.

If you've seen anything you like, you can always message me on Facebook and I'll see if I can make what you're after.

Time To Update

January and February are my time to start getting some of the designs I've thought of in the Xmas run up created. There's no time to make anything new in those weeks before Christmas, but when I'm really busy that's when inspiration starts hitting. So I've got a scrappy bit of paper with a list of designs I want to make, and I've started working my way through them.

First up are these two updated version of designs I've made before. I wanted to try the Elements design with a black background as I've started to use black grout a bit on certain colour palettes. The idea was to have a super contrast of rainbow to make it look like sparkly layers of crystals in rock. Like diamond seems in coal.

The second updated design is the Fish Shoal. I've made this before just in blues and  greens, this time I wanted to add splashes of bright colour in, and what better to do that with than bright orange goldfish.

White Waterlily Pond Mosaic Garden Bird Bath

White Water Lily Mosaic Garden Bird Bath
White Waterlily Mosaic Garden Birdbath

I've just added this new bird bath to my website, where it will stay as an exclusive until after Christmas. I love making these mini ponds. This one has two goldfish, a white water lily, and some of the green lily pads are made with iridescent green tiles which shine with metallic blue and gold as the light catches them. The background is two shades of deep blue to give a shimmering, watery effect. This one is a smaller sized 21cm which is still perfect for smaller birds to bathe in. And it's a perfect pond size to fit into even the smallest garden. You could even put it on a balcony.

Folksy Handmade - Pond

I love ponds. I find them really interesting, pretty, and relaxing. I have already made mosaic dragonflies on slate as garden pond decorations, and I have now used the dragonfly as a decoration on a hanging ornament too. So to go with these dragonflies I've collected together some other things you might find in, and around, a garden pond.

Folksy Handmade - Aqua & Gold Fish

For this week's Folksy Friday I thought I'd gather a shoal of fish together. Did you see on the news that they are having to move fish out of some streams and rivers as they dry up in the drought? All the fish they were netting were silver. It got me to thinking that somewhere in the world the rivers and streams have goldfish in them as their wild fish, and some have those brilliant neon aqua-blue fish that you see in aquariums. Wouldn't that be great? Shoals of goldfish and neons swimming in our streams. So, in honour of that odd train of thought, I've put together a collection of exotic blue and gold fish. Goldfish and The Med.

Goldfish Pond Mosaic Garden Plant Pot

When I was painting the hearts on my denim patchwork style Bright Hearts pot I was painting an orange heart onto a blue background which gave me the idea to paint some goldfish onto a turquoise tile and have them swimming round the outside of a pot. So the Goldfish Pond Pot was created. I've added some pond grasses in matt and transluscent green, and some transluscent aqua tiles to add to the watery feel, and to add depth to the design. I think it would look great with something grassy sticking out of the top, giving the impression that the grasses are growing out of the water like reeds. It would definitely be a fun addition to the garden.

Mediterranean Hearts Mosaic Plant Pot

The other mosaic pot I've made was inspired in part by the glass hearts that are included. The colours of the hearts are aqua and mid green. They also have a very watery quality to them, so I created a tile pallete to compliment them and that, in turn, reminded me of the colours of the Mediterranean. So it became the Mediterranean Hearts Pot, which I think fits well. People always think fondly of The Med. With the terracotta of the pot as well it's got a really nice warm look to it. This pot would look really good with a Mediterraean type plant in it, like something with silver leaves, or a cactus or succulent, or a geranium. The plant and pot would then make a fab Mothers Day gift for a garden loving mum.
