Folksy Handmade - Aqua & Gold Fish

For this week's Folksy Friday I thought I'd gather a shoal of fish together. Did you see on the news that they are having to move fish out of some streams and rivers as they dry up in the drought? All the fish they were netting were silver. It got me to thinking that somewhere in the world the rivers and streams have goldfish in them as their wild fish, and some have those brilliant neon aqua-blue fish that you see in aquariums. Wouldn't that be great? Shoals of goldfish and neons swimming in our streams. So, in honour of that odd train of thought, I've put together a collection of exotic blue and gold fish. (Shop links below the gallery. For the Pinterest board follow the Folksy Handmade link.)

Folksy Handmade - Paisley

Judging by some of the new items I've seen in high street shops, it looks like the one of the on-trend patterns for the summer is going to be Paisley. (And just to prove a point, Stella McCartney launches her Olympic kit yesterday wearing a paisley blouse and trouser combo.) So for this week's Folksy Friday I had a hunt around for as many different types of crafts using this pattern as I could. Ok, I included two brass cuff bracelets, but that's because they were both so nice I didn't want to drop either of them. I still can't get the pictures to stay where I want them when I try to add a link to them, so there's another link menu at the bottom of the gallery. And you can also see some of the items on my ongoing Pinterest Folksy Friday feature board here -

GROW!

GROW Contemporary Mosaic Garden Decoration

GROW Contemporary Concrete Garden Ornamnet

This is my latest project. I've seen a lot of letters for use in the home, with 'bake', 'home' etc. Nothing for the garden though. So I decided to sort that out. And this is what I've come up with - GROW! I've made a plain version, and a mosiac version. I can see these decorating allsorts of things. You could place them around the base of a tree, in a raised bed, they'd be useful in the veg bed for weighting down netting, you could tilt them up against a wall, or shed, place them flat in a border.........

I could go on. I have pictures of some of the uses above on the item pages on my website. Pop over and take a look.

Folksy Handmade - In Space

I've decided to try and showcase my Folksy Fridays on my blog, as well as featuring permitted items on my Pinterest board (long story, but the words Pinterest, and copyright are heavily involved in it). Whether I can replicate this gallery on my blog again next week is another thing. Have you ever tried to do a gallery on Blogger? I'm sure it doesn't need to be as difficult as it seems to be. I've given up trying to put captions, or links onto the pics, it's a licence for the pic to fly off over the page wherever it wants. My solution is a written link menu at the bottom of the gallery.

So, here is my Folksy Friday for this week. Folksy In Space. I've tried to choose a selection of crafts again, just to show off how multi-talented the people of Folksy are. Hope you like the choices (click the link below for the Pinterest board) -

My New Shed

As I did a Folksy Friday with Shed Chic, and a blog post about an old bird box that I tarted up in honour of getting my new shed, I thought I'd do a quick post with the famous shed built, painted, and in place. I won't pretend it was the easiest thing to build. It took us most of Saturday to get done. But it looks good (don't get too close, you might see the bodged bits). And it's ideal for the space I had, and the right size for the bits I need to put in it. Perfect.

Fancy going to an online craft fair?

At any time of day, or night? For a whole week?! You can. It's called CraftFest. It's starts on Saturday 10th March and runs until Saturday 18th March. There are over 140 stalls with fashion, jewellery, bath & beauty, homeware, cards, art, baby and child.... in fact just about anything you could want, or need.

So, why not pop over and have a browse over the next week. And if you're still looking for a unique Mother's Day gift this could be just the place.

Here's a small taster of what's on offer from some of the Folksy sellers taking part -

Folksy Handmade - Boats

Lighthouse and Boat Mosaic Mirror

The boat on my Coastal Scene Mosaic Mirror

No real story behind this week's Folksy Friday. I just had a look in my shop for an item to inspire me, and I saw my Lighthouse and Boat Mosaic Mirror. Rather than do a seaside, or sea theme (which I've got on my Pinterest boards already), I decided to pick out the boat from the design and collect some more together. As usual I've tried to find them made of as many different things, in as many different ways as possible. There's fabric, ceramic, wood, glass, metal, plastic and print.
