Pink Roses Hanging Heart Garden Decoration

Pink Roses Hanging Heart Garden Decoration
The first new design of 2015 from me, the Pink Roses Hanging Heart Garden Decoration. I had designed the rose and used it in a bird bath a few months ago, and I fancied using it to create a fabric look on a hanging heart. I used some very delicate iridescent and plain pastel pink tiles for the roses, and used fresh greens for the leaves to give a nice bright background. It's worked really well with the black grout popping the colours out. So 2015 has started well with this design, which I like so much I am going to use it in a bird bath, and I'm going to try more colourways of it too. You can either follow me on Facebook to see these new designs take shape and find out when they get listed on my website, or you can follow this blog.

Folksy Handmade - Black & White

If you wonder where inspiration comes from for these each week, this Folksy Friday collection originally started off being a selection of black accessories because I had an email from one of the clothing websites saying one of the trends this spring is monochrome. But as I was searching for black items I kept coming across more stunning work which didn't fit accessories, and that had a lot of white in too. So I've amended my theme to Black & White so that I can include all the other fab things I found. All of the items are original designs, which are hand stitched, drawn, carved, printed, beaten, tatted ...... so, worth every penny to get something that is that handmade and unique.

Folksy Handmade - Cats

We adopted a couple of 6 month old kittens a couple of weeks ago. They are sisters, but are different in colour, and very different in personality. The grey tabby, Treacle, is very laid back. She's got extra toes on all her paws. 2 on each front paw, 1 each on each back paw. The official term is Polydactyl (meaning many fingered). It makes her look like she's got snow shoes on. Very cute. You can certainly hear her coming down the stairs. The brown tabby, Peanut (we knew she'd be a nut before we named her) is a lot more active (not that you'd know from her photo), and is, frankly, a bit mad. She is very good at mini football though. She can dribble her mini ball the length of the room, trap it under her paw, and dribble it all the way back again.
Anyway, in honour of these two turning up, this week's Folksy Friday theme is - cats.

(Shop links under the picture gallery, Pinterest board on the link below. And of course I would have included Fat Kitty, but I've already used him in a previous FF.)

Wildlife Mosaic

I've created a couple more of my mosaic Dragonfly and Bee designs. This time on some fab slate paddlestones. The colours of the slate really come out when they are wet. The purple slate becomes a gorgeous dark plum. The grey slate becomes mottled with a pastel green. They look really good. The mosaic dragonfly has misty grey wings with pastel pink, blue and green in some light angles. But when the light catches them just right they shine with metallic blue, magenta and gold. The bee has translucent blue wings that shine electric blue and gold.

Retro Roses

Retro Roses Mosaic Bird Bath

Retro Roses Mosaic Bird Bath

This is my latest bird bath design, it's called Retro Roses. It's another one that's been inspired by vintage fabric. This time it's 50's style fabric. Pale pink roses, on a jet black background. The spaces are filled with tiny rosebuds, with apple green leaves. The jet black tiles are slightly shiney so they set off the matt pink roses really well.

A Mosaic Christmas (Part 1)

Mosaic Stained Glass Look Christmas Baubles

Mosaic Stained Glass Effect Christmas Ornament
I've been re-inspired to make some more mosaic Christmas ornaments. This is the first batch of finished ones. My Mosaic Stained Glass Look Christmas Decorations. The tiles are a combination of plain colour, and handpainted layers to give me the exact combinations I wanted. The colours used in the baubles are red, magenta, green, blue, turquoise, orange, yellow with a transluscent gold glaze, and a totally gold tile colour. The grout has been overpainted with black paint to show the tile colours off, and to give the stained glass look. Perfect for Christmas.

These Christmas ornaments can used indoors or outside in the garden, as all the materials used are weatherproof.

Keep an eye on my handmade shop, or website, for more mosaic decorations following very soon. Or follow me on Facebook, or Twitter for updates.
