I've also been making a selection of hanging decorations that can be used in the home or garden. Lots of bees and butterflies to brighten up a wall or fence. These bees all have iridescent wings that shine with metallic colours when the light catches them. There's the Nectar Bee heart with bumblebees heading towards a shining amber drop and the Three Bees have similar backgrounds to the hearts with a greens and pale pink Abstract Garden background, there's the creams and beige Honeycomb background and a turquoise ombre background on the Three Bees and shades of sky blues on the heart.

There's also the Clouds of Butterflies hearts with iridescent, matt and translucent butterflies making lovely palettes of colour to hang in the home or garden.

More butterflies can be found on the Butterflies and Daisies decoration, with each daisy having a mini millefiori daisy at it's centre and the butterflies having iridescent wings.

And finally, as it's getting to that time of year, there's some Mini Holly Wreaths and some Holly Winter hearts all with iridescent, matt and traslucent leaves and raised red berries all on a cracked, icy white background.

Been busy making lots of new bird baths from old designs, but using new colours which are giving some really interesting finishes. Like this geometric pattern which is one of my oldest designs and I've named them all as the Garden design, but I've tried it out in three different palettes and it's given each one a completely different feel. The one using browns and creams has a Victorian tiled look, the blues are definitely a Moroccan pool, and the pale greens and purples has a definite formal herb garden look to it.

The Beautiful Blue Sky bird bath with it's bees, dragonflies and butterflies, and the Bees in Blossom are both back in stock too. Both are like scenes of spring and summer reflecting in the water surface

And finally a new colour palette for the Gypsy design and we've got the Gypsy Rainbow which has lovely soft, muted browns and greens working out to richer jade greens and a very deep sapphire blue border. A great design to add that splash of colour in the garden.

New Designs

It's been very busy at JoSara HQ. A couple of new designs have been and gone from my shops already, and I've just added another.

The two that have new homes are the bees with flowers designs. One was Bees and Blossom, and the other was Bees and Blue Daisies.

The other new design I've just added to my website and Etsy shop is an abstract design that represents land and sea. The colours all match perfectly and make a lovely calm design.

The Green Man Mosaic Garden Ornament Range

Another new range that I've added to my website and Etsy shop. The mini Green Man 13cm plaque, which was the first design, has been extended into a 25cm bird bath, and onto a 25cm hanging plaque too. The Green Man is proving very popular because he is a symbol of rebirth, so he's a perfect decoration for a garden, and would make a great gift for someone getting a new home, or for a gardener.

I have finally managed to get the full season set of Mosaic Jewel Tree Garden Hanging Plaques listed on my website, and joining them are a complimenting full set of Mosaic Season Sprites Hanging Decorations, which would look great dotted around a garden peeping out from the plants. The idea behind all the designs was to collect the colours of the season, so in Spring there is the pastels of blossom, the bright yellow of daffodils, and the fresh greens again the aqua blue sky. In Summer there's the deep colours of the flowers against the rich greens. In Autumn it's the tapestry of colour of the autumn leaves. And in winter the bright berries, bare wood, and the icy blues and white. Great on their own, but all designed to go with each other in any combination, so you could match a pair of seasons for a couple's birthday months, or just two seasons that you love the colours of. I made my first garden sphere ever recently and straight away I had the urge to make another one in a different design, then the butterflies are joined by bees, on large and on mini balls too. It's gone sphere mad round here.

The Water Lily Pond Ball has two goldfish, two dragonflies with iridescent wings, and white water lily flowers all on a jade green background. It would look really great next to a pond. Or it would be great if you can't have a pond in your garden as a replacement.

And these are the mini balls with a single bumblebee on which are very cute, and great as plant markers or to use in a container as decoration.

Two new mosaic bird bath designs. Both came from making a shape from a tile while I was making other bird baths and then it sparking an idea for a new design. And I've got ideas for more designs from making these too. The first design is the Pastel Anemones. I've used this colour palette quite a lot lately because it looks great with the black grout. The flower centres are slightly glossy black so show well against the grout. Some of the flowers are iridescent to add metallic shine to your garden.

The other new design is the Peacock Jewel. This bird bath has a slight feel of India about it with the colours used and the stylised peacock design. The jewel bit of the name refers to small squares of iridescent tiles which give the metallic shine to certain areas of the bird bath.

I think spring is springing. I saw my first bumblebee of the year a few days ago and I got all inspired to make some hanging hearts using my mosaic bumblebees. Two sizes, large and mini, and both are made to commission. This is a bit different to made to order, because the made to order designs I have the materials set aside for so when the order comes in I can make straight away. With the made to commission designs, I may not have all the materials to make in stock so will order in anything I need. I'm running a Made to Commission album on Facebook, which will have all the designs in it with the sizes and use info, and the way to order anything in that album will be to message me on Facebook to let me know which on you're interested in, then I can send you a price and a making time too.

These Little Lion, and Little Lioness water dishes were designed with the idea of leaving water out for outdoor cats. They can look into the dish and see themselves as a lion or lioness. The dishes are also perfect for leaving water out for birds, hedgehogs and all your other garden wildlife too.

Time To Update

January and February are my time to start getting some of the designs I've thought of in the Xmas run up created. There's no time to make anything new in those weeks before Christmas, but when I'm really busy that's when inspiration starts hitting. So I've got a scrappy bit of paper with a list of designs I want to make, and I've started working my way through them.

First up are these two updated version of designs I've made before. I wanted to try the Elements design with a black background as I've started to use black grout a bit on certain colour palettes. The idea was to have a super contrast of rainbow to make it look like sparkly layers of crystals in rock. Like diamond seems in coal.

The second updated design is the Fish Shoal. I've made this before just in blues and  greens, this time I wanted to add splashes of bright colour in, and what better to do that with than bright orange goldfish.

Roses Mosaic Topiary Standard Tree Garden Plaque

The idea and the reality. I've had this idea for a while, to make some sort of mosaic topiary, and I've finally managed to try it out and I think it's worked out quite well. Very close to how I visualised it and first made a graphic to explain it on Facebook for feedback. The mosaic plaque is designed to be hung on a wall or fence, then you get to be the designer after that, making a unique display by adding your own choice of pot, filled with whatever plants and flowers you choose, and then you link the pot and plaque with a stem of your choice (I've used a cut down bamboo cane). No pests, no diseases, no pruning, and permanent full bloom roses, what's not to like?

I'm on a bit of a roll using the rose in a new design for this year. After the Pink Roses, this is the China Blue Roses. The idea behind this version was to have the roses in blue like they are a pattern on china, then the white background is a nod to the china being broken, as if the design is made out of pieces of blue and white china. I used grey grout on this one so it tied in the white a bit, and because it reminded me of the rough edges you get on some of the stoneware blue and white plates. Another version of this design is in progress, it's proving to be very adaptable. Two fishy mirrors for you. Both have the fish circling in alternate directions to create a dynamic design. One has a random colour pattern with iridescent fish dotted around to add metallic shine. The other has graduating colour fishes. Both have the slightly raised mirror so you can see the slightly greeny mirror glass that adds to the watery feel. Both are designed to be used in any room of the home, including bathrooms.

Inspired by the graduating colours used in the Elements Bird Bath this Water Drops mosaic heart uses water droplets shapes to create the pattern and the colours graduate across the face. There is a small circular mirror to add some interest along with the iridescent tiles used that have a metallic shine when the light angle catches them. This heart is suitable for sheltered garden use (not too much water, definitely no ice), or indoor use. A lovely, unique decoration for your home or garden.

Bird Bath or Wall Plaque?

Commissions 

I've had some customers mention to me that they can't have a bird bath for various reasons (no garden, cats, boisterous kids), so I have come up with a way to convert the bird bath designs into wall plaques. I make quite a lot of commissions for people that just want a change of use, or a slight change to the designs. Here is a selection. The Harvest Hedgehog Dish, made into a wall plaque, and the design reversed to create an Autumn Hedgehog Dish. The Lavender Hedgehog Dish made into a wall plaque. And two standard made to order bird bath designs with similar colours used in the design tweaked slightly to match further and given matching borders. Dragonfly Dance Mosaic Garden Bird Bath

After making the Tiffany Toadstools I liked the colours so much I've used them in a bird bath design that I've made before. The three dragonflies have got iridescent blue wings that shine with metallic electric blue. The background is made using soft shades of blues and green giving the design a slightly stained glass effect. It's a lovely design that would make a great gift for anyone that loves their garden, or wildlife, or art glass designs.

I put a new tile order in to my suppliers recently and discovered some new tile colours were available. A couple of them were just perfect for my Moonlight Ripple Bird Bath. I had changed the colour combination on this bird bath since the original design due to some colours being discontinued, but these new colours meant I could go back to the design being a deep blue. So I've jiggled some of the ripples around, removed a couple, added a new border colour and this is the result. Much more night sky, and moonlit water.

A new design added to my website today. This Aqua & Apple Green Heart is a lovely, simple design, which uses quite muted colours, but it has a clean contemporary look that is very effective, and would suit any style garden. If you love your garden birds, this could be the bird bath for you.

Another couple of bird bath designs added to stock today. Both old designs using new colours. The first design is the Splash pattern, which I have made this time with shades of greens, and slatey blues. I've called it Peacock Splash, because the combined colours and the pattern remind me of a peacock's feathers when it's displaying.

Verdant Ripple Mosaic Garden Bird Bath

The second design is a new version of the Verdant Ripple pattern. Not too much has changed in this one colourwise, but I've moved the position of the ripples around a bit, and the border is slightly lighter in this version. This will be the final design of this pattern which I will offer as a Custom Make, I think.
