New year, new idea.

Bee and Daisy Mini Framed Mosaic

As usual, when the new year comes around I tend to have an idea for something new. This time it's not so much new designs, but a new way of displaying them. So I've decided to add a few home decor, framed mosaics to the range. Still perfect gifts for wildlife lovers because most of the designs I frame will be my wildlife inspired ones that I've made for outdoor plaques, or onto bird baths. The first one was a mini bee with daisy, with a mosaic measuring 8cm x 8cm.

Hedgerow Bees Framed Mosaic

Decided to go a bit bigger for the next one and use a coloured frame rather than a plain one. The colour of the frame actually inspired which design I chose to put in it, which was the Hedgerow Bees with the soft pinks and whites of the flowers and the pale aqua blue sky complimenting the pastel blue frame with it's mosaic size of 19cm x 19cm.

Autumn Jewel Tree Mini Framed Mosaic

The latest design I've made is a miniature version of my Jewel Tree design. I chose the Autumn tree and added a tiny silver bird to it. As it's indoor use I can start adding some of these other embellishments that might not survive outdoors like the more robust mosaic. Keep an eye out for more of these framed designs because I'm finding them super fun to make so I can see a few more appearing in my shop soon.

Season Spirits and Jewel Tree

Mosaic Jewel Trees, and Season Spirits Hanging Garden Decorations
I have finally managed to get the full season set of Mosaic Jewel Tree Garden Hanging Plaques listed on my website, and joining them are a complimenting full set of Mosaic Season Sprites Hanging Decorations, which would look great dotted around a garden peeping out from the plants. The idea behind all the designs was to collect the colours of the season, so in Spring there is the pastels of blossom, the bright yellow of daffodils, and the fresh greens again the aqua blue sky. In Summer there's the deep colours of the flowers against the rich greens. In Autumn it's the tapestry of colour of the autumn leaves. And in winter the bright berries, bare wood, and the icy blues and white. Great on their own, but all designed to go with each other in any combination, so you could match a pair of seasons for a couple's birthday months, or just two seasons that you love the colours of. These can be found on my website, and in my Etsy shop.

Dragonfly Dance Mosaic Garden Bird Bath

Dragonfly Dance Mosaic Garden Bird Bath

After making the Tiffany Toadstools I liked the colours so much I've used them in a bird bath design that I've made before. The three dragonflies have got iridescent blue wings that shine with metallic electric blue. The background is made using soft shades of blues and green giving the design a slightly stained glass effect. It's a lovely design that would make a great gift for anyone that loves their garden, or wildlife, or art glass designs.

Mosaic Bumblebee with Olive Frame

I've decided to add a bit more home decor to my range so I've created two mosaic bumblebees in hand painted frames. The frames have a lovely muted olive green slightly distressed finish. The bees have iridescent wings that shine with metallic gold and magenta, and they are surrounded by two shades of sky blue tiles. I really like the proportion of frame to mosaic, and the distressing and subtle colours give a lovely finished look to them.

Nature's Palette

I haven't done one of these for ages. This collection from Folksy.com was inspired by the photo of the Peacock Butterfly that I found on Folksy by accident. But the colours were so perfect, I thought I'd make a Folksy Finds Pinterest board around it. Click on the pic to visit the shop for more info.

Folksy Handmade - Summer Garden

Summer Border Suncatcher Cards
JoSara

This week is a feel good Folksy Friday with a selection of garden views. I have just completed a set of suncatcher cards that are designed to let the sun through to light up the colours, and light up the recipents day too. Just making these cards gave me the feel good factor that a flower border in summer brings. So I thought I'd share that and collect a whole page of summeryness. I have tried to select things that have had the garden design totally created by the designer/artist. That way there's a great selection of styles, and crafts.

Folksy Handmade - Birds and Bees

This week's Folksy Friday is inspired by my Birds and Bees Set, and my new Birds and Bees Deal combining a Bee Log House (that can be used by insects for overwintering in too), and a mosaic Bird Bath. So this week's list includes some of the birds and insects that the set is designed for, and which might be attracted to your garden. I'd love bullfinches in my garden, but I'm not near any woodland, or orchards, which is where they live. I've seen the rest of the gallery in my little urban garden, even the tiny wren which has a bloomin' big gob for a tiny bird. It's song is amazing for one so wee.
