Copper Verdigris Wirework Daisies Bird Nest Box

Copper Verdigris Daisies Bird Nest Box

Sometimes, I like to do something a bit different from mosaic. I like to create effect and textures, which is sometimes hard to do with tiles. So, I make decorative wirework bird boxes. This one had a lovely brown wood stain on it already, so I thought a light whitewash would suit it, and I really wanted to make some daisy decorations that looked like they were made from copper and had the verdigris starting to happen on them. I think it turned out quite nicely.

Nature for You

Rose Garden Bag Charm
Beautiful Berries Bag Charm
Riot of Roses Bag Charm

I've opened a new section on my website called Nature for You. I'm going to use it to create nature and wildlife inspired items that could be given as gifts to wildife, or garden lovers, or as a gift to yourself. The first items added are three bag charms that were inspired by the colours of the beads used.

Wired Bird Boxes

Rambling Rose Bird Box

Daisy Chain Bird Box

I love hand decorating with paint. Adding effects and creating patterns. I also like creating and engineering things. So as I've got the tools to use wire for my jewellery it seemed like a good idea to find a way to add some wire to the bird boxes to create a raised effect to the designs. I really like the finished look. Especially as I've got some special paint that is suitable to outdoor use that I can use to create even more effects on the wire. For these two bird boxes I've created a rusty copper look to the wire. Practical for the birds, and decorative for the garden. A perfect combination.

Folksy Handmade - Hidden Treasure

This Folksy Friday is inspired by my Hidden Treasure bird bath which has a design showing sparkling treasure peeking out from in the cracks of the grey rock. So I've collected together things that are made of, or have the colour of -Precious metals, Agate, and Fossils that are found hidden in rocks and stone, and Mother of Pearl, Pearl and Amber that are found hidden in shells and the sea. The locket made of precious metal, and the box made with agate and in the colour of a precious metal add extra to the hidden theme too.

(Shop menu under the gallery, and for the Pinterest board follow the Folksy Handmade link (pins will be updated during the day due to a bit of a rush to get this one done.)

A Mosaic Christmas (Part 2)

Fiesta Mosaic Christmas Bauble Decoration

The next two sets of baubles in my mosaic decoration range have been listed. The first ones are using the colours I've used before, and I call the pallete Fiesta. The colours are all handpainted onto the tiles using combinations of magenta, red, orange, and gold.

Peacock Mosaic Christmas Bauble Decoration

The second set I've called Peacock, because the palette I've used remind me of the colours you'd find in a peacock feather - blue, green, turquoise, aqua, and copper. Some of the tiles are handpainted to give me the shades that I wanted.

Both of the sets of baubles are finished in grey grout. and both sets are suitable for interior or exterior use. In fact, they don't have to just be used for the festive season. These baubles would look great in the garden all year round. Either hanging up, or as a collection in a bowl on a table.
